About the Role:

Grafana Labs seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the k6 team, building performance and reliability testing tools for developers and QA engineers. k6 is an open-source project focused on making performance testing practical and approachable in real-world engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain k6, a performance testing tool written in Go
• Work on features across the k6 codebase from conception through delivery
• Collaborate on design, implementation, and code reviews with other engineers
• Deliver production-quality code while maintaining system reliability
• Support the open-source project and engage with its community
• Contribute to k6 cloud offering for distributed testing across data centers
• Own product end-to-end: architecture, releases, user-facing behavior, and project health

Required Qualifications

• Strong production software experience in Go or similar concurrent/parallel languages
• Experience with larger, long-lived codebases
• Independent problem-solving ability with delivery focus
• Clear technical communication skills in code reviews and design discussions
• Understanding of HTTP, gRPC, WebSockets, and networking concepts
• Modern development practices: testing, code review, iterative development

Bonus Qualifications

• Open-source contributions or maintenance experience
• Prior k6 production experience or ecosystem contributions
• Performance, reliability, or network testing expertise
• Distributed systems or cloud services background
• JavaScript/TypeScript proficiency
• Docker, AWS, microservices, or observability tools experience (Grafana, APM)

You can use modern AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow (your choice of tools, within security guidelines), backed by a company-funded usage budget. Compensation:

Sweden: SEK 775,444 - SEK 930,533 base compensation Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) included for all team members.
