Lead Developer

Futurice is looking for a Lead Developer based in Helsinki or Tampere, Finland. This senior/lead role (7+ years experience) acts as a critical dual role: seasoned developer and responsible technical contact within project scope — bridging hands-on implementation with strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate is proficient in using and implementing AI-augmented development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to streamline the development lifecycle. You will champion the adoption of AI-augmented development practices, ensuring our teams leverage modern AI tools to enhance productivity and code quality.

What you'll do

• Act as technical contact internally and externally, bridging implementation with strategy
• Provide opinionated technical leadership
• Facilitate technology and architecture decisions
• Guide development teams on architecture and technology choices
• Ensure security and compliance throughout the development lifecycle
• Create documentation supporting onboarding and operations
• Mentor staff and ensure team has necessary capabilities
• Identify sales opportunities and provide technical support in sales cases
• Support clients with digital transformation
• Champion adoption of AI-augmented development practices
• Foster continuous improvement culture

What you'll need

• 7+ years hands-on software development experience
• Previous technical leadership or lead developer role
• Full-stack mindset with deep technical understanding
• Proficiency with AI-augmented development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
• Comfort as go-to technical advisor for clients
• Cloud platform expertise (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• DevOps and CI/CD proficiency
• Strong security, privacy, and compliance awareness
• English and Finnish fluency
• Consultative mindset focused on real-world problem-solving
